Five Hospitalized, Greenwich Firefighters Among Injured

State authorities report that all lanes on Interstate 95 south are closed due to a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Sunday.

Five individuals were released from the hospital, including three Greenwich firefighters, after the tractor-trailer collided with the fire apparatus.

According to state police, the crash occurred on I-95 southbound near Exit 4.

The Greenwich Fire Department responded to the initial accident, but a tractor-trailer subsequently struck Engine 1, resulting in a second collision.

I-95 southbound in the vicinity of exit 5 was closed for nearly eight hours due to the severe crash.

Traffic Impact and Delays

The crash caused significant traffic congestion and delays in the area.

Interstate 95 south was congested between Exits 15 and 5 for approximately an hour on Thursday morning.

Traffic delays were also reported on the Merritt Parkway due to the I-95 incident.
